Marc Lapierre, cartoonist, artist, designer, nerd

1974  -  Here I am, no bigger than a loaf of bread, with my grandfather
The Tale of the Frog!

The day was August 8th, 1974. All the world was watching as the 37th President of the United States, Richard Nixon, announced his resignation, effective on noon the following day. During all the controversy and scandal, another lesser known historic event was taking place, a young couple named Gene and Michele Lapierre, were welcoming into the world their first born son. Weighing in at 7 pounds 9 ounces and measuring 20 1/2 inches, I had arrived.

At just 16 month's of age I had already begun scribbling with crayons. Before my fourth birthday I began to display and aptitude in drawing. It wasn't long until I began to express myself in cartoon form. Many long afternoons were spent copying my favorite comic strip characters and super heroes and placing them in my own adventures. I would entertain older family members by telling jokes and drawing silly portraits of them. Before I knew it I was in high school contributing strips to the school newspaper, creating and publishing my very own comic book series, and drawing cartoon icons for a local advertising company.

After attaining a degree from a Philadelphia art school, I've used my skills in many ways, from creating concept drawings, sculptures, and more for a Pennsylvania theme fabrication company, to painting murals for a Philadelphia dinner theater. I've created logos for various web sites, designed tattoos for friends, and written and drawn several comic strips. These days, I spend my precious free time designing logos for local bands, and working on this website. What does the future hold? I think Ozzy said it best when he said "I don't know", but whatever it holds, I'll be sure to have a pencil and paper nearby!
