Bob Hope Tribute- I whipped
up this caricature the day Bob Hope passed away to show that even a youngblood
like myself could appreciate real comedy. Actually it's not as simple as just one amateur cartoonist admiring a legendary comedian. Bob Hope represents a simpler time in my life when family could sit together and watch the television and enjoy it. Times like that pass and you don't even realize they're gone until you take a moment and look back. Also, whenever I see Bob Hope footage, I can't help but to think of my grandfather. To me, my grandfather (or Pépère, as us kids called him) was simply the funniest man on the planet. Bob Hope was one of his favorites, and if someone was funny to my grandfather, then, that's all the proof I needed. My grandfather's been gone for some time, now, and to this day the thought of him brings a smile to my face. In a big way, this little tribute to our nation's most beloved comedian, is actually a tribute to my most beloved comedian, Lucien W. Dupont Sr. 1910 - 1998. |
