Okinawans

You will shortly receive, from the distribution center of R [and] A, Dr. Tozzer's very excellent Okinawan Studies #3 under date of 10 June 1944. The earlier studies, No. 1 of March 16th and No. 2 of March 27th, undoubtedly have suggested the desirability of planning to make use of the opportunity to do a little MO work on this subject. Okinawas, June 19, 1944 [Okinawan studies not found]

There were a number of miscellaneous matters raised, among others, the use of Okinawas, natives of the islands south of Japan, who are unfriendly to Japan; the excellent intelligence received from the Allied Interpreters and Intelligence Branch G-2, of the Southwest Pacific Area (SWPA); the possible use by MO of what they called counter-intelligence, i.e., finding out what the enemy propaganda is and turning it to our benefit.
