Happy Holidays
Can you believe it's almost that time of year?
I want to wish everyone a fantastic holiday. May all your wishes and dream come true.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for making Make the GrAde a
successful and prospering educational service. I really value the chance to work with
everyone and I also value the support and friendship that all of the families have shown.
Thank you!
With this time of year comes a flurry of activity, and maybe even a flurry of snow.
On my journeys, I'm already seeing colorful and brightly lit houses, lights in the shape of
reindeer, and things getting more and more hectic. With everything that is going on it's
important to keep focus on school and school work, not just for the present, but also,
sorry to be the one to remind you, but for midterms which are just around the corner.
Most schools have their midterm exams over a four or five day period during the last 2 weeks
of January...
It is not too early to start planning for your midterms now.
In fact you have a perfect opportunity to start getting ready for them over the holiday break.
Think about it... 10 days of uninterrupted study time!!!
(see it's all just a matter of attitude - right).
Here are some practical suggestions of things that you can do now, so that you don't have
a big crunch later...
1. REVIEW AND MASTER CONCEPTS FROM EARLY IN THE YEAR
September may seem like ancient history right now, but the information you learned then
is just as likely to be on the midterm as the information that you are learning now, and
will learn in January. Some of this matter may carry over to present material, but some
may not have. Go back NOW and make outlines and concept maps (see this months study tip)
2. START TO REVIEW NOW
Just doing 10 minutes a day now, will add up to several hours over the next 6 to 8 weeks.
This helps you in multiple ways. First, midterms are a stressful time, by beginning to prepare
now, you will have less to do during midterms so that you be able to focus more on the matters
at hand. Secondly, this gives time to identify subject matter that you will need more time with.
Better to determine this now, and have the time to supplement, then to find it out the night
before the exam.
3. PLAN AHEAD
You've seen this before!!! Planning is the best way to accomplish all the things you need to
get done.
4. CALL MAKE THE GRADE
We are here to help with both subject matter, and organization.
Many people increase their prep time leading up to midterms. Please call now to schedule.
