How To Make Your own Vanilla Extract
Best Recipe
- Cut several KCJ vanilla beans into pieces or lengthwise with a sharp knife
or scissor. You can use Tahitian, Madagascar Bourbon, Mexican or PNG Tahitensis
- Place cut beans in an air tight amber jar.
- Cover with 1 cup (8 oz.) vodka, white rum, regular rum or brandy
(Be sure
the beans are completely covered with the alcohol)
- Seal tightly and let stand in a cool, dark place for several months.
- Shake the mixture several times a week, It will turn into a dark amber
color
- Strain out the beans using cheesecloth, a coffee filter, very fine mesh or
Paper towel.
- Save the extracted beans -Place them in plastic bags and put in in the
refrigerator for future cooking & baking
*It's best to Use High proof alcohol to extract Vanilla Can
also be infused in oil or vinegar in the same way Be sure to
refrigerate mixture during an oil infusion
